Where did you go on home exchange?
We went to Paris, France.
How did you choose your destination and home exchange?
We had our hosts stay with us then when we traveled to Europe last fall we stayed with them. It was so great to not be in the tourist areas (only if we wanted to).
It brings a much richer atmosphere when you get to stay in someone's home instead of the regular hotels
What was the conversation like with your host?
It was great…very good English and we communicated very well.
Your arrival: How was the house? Did you meet your host? Did they give you any gifts or tips for visiting the area?
The home was quaint and had a nice back yard. Yes, they made us dinner and took us around to different highlights by car…that was a fun ride!!
We saw everything and ate places we never would have found on our own
How did exchanging your home influence your vacation, compared to a traditional vacation rental?
There is a deeper connection with the actual place you are visiting..it is much more of a cultural experience to stay with the local people. It brings a much richer atmosphere when you get to stay in someone’s home instead of the regular hotels.
Tell us about what you saw during your trip.
We saw everything and ate at places we would have never have found on our own. Only because we stayed with our host. We saw all of the main sites in Paris! We loved the Eiffel tower the best!
Bonus question: What is the best memory from your trip?
Our host took us in his very little car and we drove circles around the Arc de Triomphe. It was an exhilarating experience..he said it was his playground getting through all the traffic! We were laughing pretty hard!
