Additional information

THE HOUSE Large 18th century renovated farm (200m²) . Constructed from Margeride granite and located at an altitude of 1100m in the Haute Loire department which borders the Lozère, Cantal and Ardèche
areas… at the heart of the region where the ’Beast of Gévaudan’ roams and where there have been several sightings in the village. It is also the village where Antoine de Beauterne stayed when ordered
by the King to capture the Beast. This was our main house until 2008 and is now our holiday home which means exchanges do not have to be simultaneous. The house provides a comfortable base in the
countryside and accommodates up to 8 people + a baby: One large room with double bed and baby’s cot, a second bedroom with double bed and a large children’s room with one double, and one single bed
with a pull out trundle bed. All baby equipment is available: a cot (possibility of an additional travel cot) high chair, potty, toys, rocker chair…. Our house has a bathroom, separate WC, and a
modern fitted kitchen (2007). To the front of the house is an enclosed courtyard with a covered patio area. SURROUNDING The house is located in a hamlet at the edge of the forest which means you can
discover the surrounding area on foot. Depending on the season you can pick blueberries, wild raspberries and mushrooms (cepes and girolles). The region is also well known for its great trout
fishing. All shops and amenities can be found in Saugues which is 9km away and roughly a 10 minute journey: supermarkets, bakers; post office, doctors etc… Farmer’s market in Saugues on Fridays and
in Langeac on Tuesdays and Thursdays. ACTIVITIES SIGHTS For those who enjoy country pursuits there are ramble/ hiking paths from the village (guide book available), river swimming, water sports at
Monistrol, Prades or Langeac (20kms) including canoeing, rafting and kayaking; lake, pool and tennis courts at Saugues (10kms). Parc aux Bisons (Horse and cart rides) 30kms away and the Parc aux
Loups in the Lozère. For those who enjoy architecture and culture/heritage the area has special cultural status and many sites to visit within a 30 km radius, in Margeride and the Allier valley :
