What you will love about this home
Welcome to our little piece of heaven! Our home is bright, spacious and very comfortable (and the wood burning stove provides cosy warmth in the winter). There are 3 double bedrooms (2 En-suite), 1 twin bedroom and the main bathroom. There is also a downstairs WC for ease of access for those with little children. There is a very large garden and an expansive BBQ area with patio furniture. The surrounding countryside provides pleasant views and it is an ideal escape for couples or families. Escapism in the truest sense of the word, this is where, in the un-lit-polluted skies you will be able to enjoy the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets along with Perseid meteor showers on clear nights. Sit around the fire pit and see the night sky without light pollution....... hundreds of millions of stars to see!!! The nearby stream rushing over the rocks adds a lovely background sound whilst you sit with your glass of wine (or beer) and relax after a day at the beach, or a visit to many of the cultural sights around west Cork. A car is needed to get to get around in west Cork as public transport is not convenient for the most part, and there is plenty of parking space at the front of the house.
What you will love in the neighborhood
The peace and quiet of the countryside. Wake up to hear the birds singing and listen to the golden silence. The garden is an ideal area for children to play safely. The road is safe for long country walks as there is minimal road and farm traffic. There is all you need for the perfect family holiday.
The house is close to a number of picturesque beaches, namely Inchydoney, Owenahincha, Long Strand and The Warren, to name a few. Castlefreke Castle, the Galley Head Lighthouse and the Drombeg Stone Circle are all a short drive away. There are plenty of activities in the area such as: - Boating - Pitch & Putt - Driving Range - Playgrounds - Shops and Restaurants - Horse Riding - Watersports: -- Surfing (lessons available at Inchydoney) -- Scuba Diving -- Sailing -- Kayaking.
The house is equidistant from the Towns of Clonakilty or Rosscarbery. Thats only a 10 min. drive for a bit of Craic in a traditional Irish Bar or to the Beach. Cork City/ Cork Airport are only a 1 hour drive away.
Experience the Wild Atlantic Way as we are very centrally located for travelling all of West Cork and County Kerry. The house is a 30 minute drive from the Town of Skibbereen where you can visit the Irish Heritage Centre, or a 40 minute drive to the coastal village of Baltimore where you can hop on a Ferry and visit Sherkin Island and Cape Clear Island.
From Skibbereen make a trip to beautiful Barley Cove Beach or drive on further to the wonderous Mizen Head Lighthouse, the furthest south-west point of Ireland.
County Kerry is approximately a 90 minute drive from our house and the views around the Ring of Kerry are a sight to behold .
There is lots to do and many, many places to visit. Don't take my word for it, come and see for yourself.
