What you will love about this home

Our home is in the centre of Ireland is bright and cosy in the heart of the picturesque village of Dromineer which is home to the world's 3rd oldest Yacht Cub, the LDYC, which hosts many sailing events throughout the summer. It is located in the village beside the internationally renouned site of Lough Derg. The Lough Derg Lakelands is a picturesque part of Ireland. The majestic Lough Derg is located between counties Tipperary, Clare and Galway and there’s a great selection of activities to choose from to ensure a great stay in this region. Explore the eastern shores of Lough Derg on the Tipperary side from Dromineer to Terryglass or to Ballina Killaloe, with the quaint and welcoming villages and people along the way.

On the water activities include cruising, sailing, kayaking, Stand Up paddling and fishing while on land you can discover some of the best walking routes in Ireland along the Lough Derg Way and looped walks close by.

This area is rich in heritage and the Lough Derg Heritage Trail can guide you to ancient sites around Lough Derg. There’s also a Lough Derg Nature Trail for nature lovers.

What you will love in the neighborhood

The lakeside at our doorstep, so too is The Whiskey Still where you can enjoy great food and music entertainment at night, meeting the local people and a three minute walk home! The Lake Cafe provides a cosy location beside the lake in Dromineer for breakfast and lunch, morning and afternoon coffee breaks with a tasty treat.

The Cliffs of Moher' Ireland's most visited natural attraction is just an hour and a half away through the beautiful countryside and on to Wild Atlantic Way

Visit beaches and other picturesqe lakeside villages like Garrykennedy, Ballina-Killaloe and Terryglass just 20 minutes away and market town of Nenagh 5 minutes away for wonderful fresh food, restaurants and bars and home to gourmet food,arts and cultural festivals during the summer. Visit St John's Castle and the Hunt museum in the historic city of Limerick is just 30 minutes away

Here is a flavour of some Summer Camps for Children for you to look into in advance. These took place in the past, therefore some of the information may be out of date until their websites are updated for summer 2018.

Summer Sailing Fun in Dromineer
The Junior Sailing Programme runs in the LDYC, located three minutes walk away from our home. The Sailing Camp runs for four weeks in July, with >100 young sailors. This Programme includes all levels of the Irish Sailing Association's Small Boat Sailing Scheme, from "Monsters" all the way through the Junior Sailing Course to Instructor Level, with a strong emphasis on having fun while enjoying watersports and sailing in a safe environment. The duration of each individual course can range from 1 to 4 weeks, depending on both the aptitude/interest of the child, and the time it takes to acquire the skills applicable to each level. To commence a new (higher) level, you must first have completed the prior level. Participants need to join the club as an overseas member. Members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, some live locally and some Overseas.

Design Camp
This camp group is a great opportunity for children aged 7 to 9 to become confident with Science, Design and Technology. Located in Nenagh.

Multi Sports in the University of Limerick (UL) Centre on Lough Derg
Adventure World Summer Camp with free supervised bus transport from Nenagh daily. Great fun on the water and on land!

Irish Sports
Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps provide boys and girls – between the ages of 6 and 13 – with an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity during the summer holidays which revolves around maximising enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games.
