Additional information

We are a family of 4, our children are aged 11 and 14. We are used to home exchanging because we already swapped several times through another site. We offer for exchange our second home on the hills above Iseo Lake in Northern Italy.

As a description of our place, we have been writing for years that our lake was unknown even to italian mass tourism. Then in July 2016 there was Christo's "Floating Piers" and everything changed. For 3 weeks the world got to know our hidden gem, and now we are the very famous Iseo Lake of Christo's Floating Piers! However do not worry, the area is still unspoilt and the touristic offer is still not made "only" for tourists, but for locals as well.

The village is called Fonteno and it is in the province of Bergamo. It is also defined "the lake's balcony" because it offers unforgettable views on the lake. It has two food shops, two cafès, the post office, three playgrounds for children, two restaurants and one rural restaurant in a farm. The village is extremely quiet and is very happily located, being exactly 7 km from Iseo Lake and 7 km from Endine Lake. On both lakes you can find touristic villages and activities, restaurants, cafès, you can go fishing, rent a pedal boat, or windsurfing, sailing,or relax on the small beaches.

The Telegraph defined our lake "Italy's secret treasure" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/europe/italy/6053940/Lake-Iseo-Italys-secret-treasure.html

And Huffington Post included Monte Isola in "25 most beautiful villages in Italy you must see in life" http://www.huffingtonpost.it/2015/06/01/25-borghi-piu-belli-italia_n_7483484.html

Our house dates back to the beginning of 1600, but don't panic, it was completely restored.

It is on three floors:
- at the ground floor there is the kitchen which opens on a small garden. There is a porch with a table where we usually eat outside;
- at the first floor there is a bedroom and a bathroom;
- at the second floor there is the master bedroom, another small bedroom (bunk bed) and the bathroom.

For relaxing outside, we have a hammock, deck chairs and barbecue. And the view on the lake and the mountains, of course.

*********The house is in the historical centre of the village and it has no direct access by car. There is plenty of parking places nearby, all free of charges. You will have to walk 150 metres from the parking (two minutes).

There are stairs and a pebble street to get to the house, and the house itself is on three floors (spiral staircase), therefore it is unfortunately not suitable for wheel chairs.****************

We have neighbors (the pink house you see on the photos), they are a young couple with two children, and they are very kind and helpful. Every house has its own garden which is separated by the neighbor's one.

The area is easily connected with the whole world! Airports nearby:
- Milano Orio al Serio BGY 39 km, Milano Linate LIN 94 km, Milano Malpensa MPX 124 km, Brescia Montichiari VBS 82 km, Verona VRN 120 km. From these airports there are low cost flights to everywhere in Europe (Ryanair, Easyjet, AirBerlin, Wizzair, AirOne, etc.).

In Iseo Lake there is Montisola (or Monte Isola, it means Mount Island), which is the biggest lake island in Europe. In Montisola cars are not allowed, only the doctor has one, but you can hire a bike or use the local (mini)bus. Or simply walk, as we usually do. In Montisola there are many lovely and romantic restaurants and it seems that time has stopped in the small fishing villages of the island.

Try a one-day or one-night cruise on the lake with dinner and music! http://www.navigazionelagoiseo.it/

In Lovere there is a windsurf and sailing school and it is possible to hire the equipment for windsurfing. On Endine Lake you can hire pedal boats and canoes.

Fonteno is a great place for hiking. Directly from the door you will be able to follow the many paths which will take you to our mountains with great views on the lake.

The nearest skying facilities are in Montecampione (www.consorziomontecampione.it) which is some 40-50 minutes from here.

You can reach several interesting places:

Lago Iseo 5 min,
Lago Endine 5 min,
