What you will love about this home
A cat lives here but you will not be asked to look after him. This just in case you have a cat allergy.
We have comfie beds, and doors from the bedrooms to the balconies.
The kitchen is fully equipped if you don't want to enjoy the local restaurants. There are ceiling fans to keep the kitchen cool in the summer and underfloor heating as well as an open fire in the winter.
The house features local and international art, and we can put you in touch with local artists if you are interested.
For an Italian house it is light and airy, but luckily is not too hot in the summer due to it having a shady position.
What you will love in the neighborhood
Our house is in very active medieval village. At the end of June there is a medieval food festival in the town that lasts ten days and spans two weekends. On the last weekend, there are plays, food and craft stalls and various animals are brought into the town. There are also silkworm displays near our house. In addition, there are a variety of food and dancing festivals on in the surrounding villages all summer long.
Bevagna was an important town in Roman times and there are still plenty of Roman ruins in evidence scattered amongst the medieval ediface. There is a roman amphitheater and the mosaic baths have been preserved and are on display.
It is a very lively village with plenty of bars and restaurants as well as all the amenities for daily live.
It is a short drive to other attractive towns such as Montefalco, Gualdo Cattaneo, Spello, Spoleto (which has a major arts festival in mid to late summer), and of course Assisi.
In the autumn, the sagrantino wine grape vines change color and are the most delightful color.
Although there is plenty to do in and around the area, one of the great delights of the place is to sit at a bar in the piazza and watch daily life unfold.
Plenty of other very popular Italian locations are easily accessible from Bevagna. For example, Florence and Rome are approximately two hours away by express trains. It is perfectly possible to have very fulfilling day trips to both these places, via our local station, Foligno.
Also, with a rental car, it is easy to visit some of the popular towns of Umbria and Tuscany such as Orvieto, Spoleto, Perugia, Siena, Montepulciano, San Gimignano and Pienza. Parking does not pose major problems in these locations. Umbrian roads are not scary to drive on, either.
