This home is
A small paradise: removed from the world, it’s a place to simply be happy
What your guests will love about your home
A stunning one-story contemporary home on 6500 m2 of property, overlooking a beautiful valley and surrounded by thermal water springs. The main house has open plan kitchen, dining room, living room with gas fireplace, office, bedroom (king size bed), huge bathroom with double sinks and walk-in shower and large TV room with fireplace. There is also a separate powder room (WC). The gardens are planted with local cacti and trees and we have a sheep farmer next door. Total quiet and millions of stars at night. A paradise to come home to after the excitement of San Miguel de Allende!
You can eat al fresco at a large mesquite table on the terrace and have drinks on the chaises, while watching the beautiful sunsets (the house faces West). There is a second terrace area with a stone table and a Weber grill. This patio also has a fountain.
A separate building has a two-car garage (our automatic SUV is included!), a laundry room with washer and dryer and maid's quarters: small bedroom and bathroom. There is a third building, but we are not making this space available for the exchange. The entrance gate is controlled by a video intercom and the gate has automated doors. There are motion lights around the house and solar lights in the garden.
We have an alarm system, weekly cleaning (no laundry) by our lovely neighbor Paty and weekly groundskeeping by Oliverio - both are completely trustworthy and have become part of our family.
We have collected art and artifacts from all over the world and treasure our belongings. The house is definitely not child-proof. For responsible adults only!
What your guests will love about your neighborhood
Our house is in a small community of La Cieneguita, 5 km from town. This is the countryside, but with a few local and foreign neighbors. The exchange includes our Nissan X-Trail automatic SUV with its own secure parking spot in the center of San Miguel - a commodity, since most weekends and holidays see thousands of tourists visiting town. In Mexico, car insurance covers any driver and passengers, so all you need is your driver's license from home. There is a small general store near our house for basic food stuffs and excellent shops in town for local and imported goods (and the best French bakeries outside of France!)
San Miguel is a Unesco World Heritage site, located at 2000 m elevation, on a plateau between the Sierra Madre ranges. We have almost perfect weather: cool nights and mornings, warm afternoons. Our winters require a little heat some evenings (our house has two built-in gas fireplaces, plus a portable one); our summers are pleasant with scattered rain. The month of May is the hottest.
We are lucky to have hot, clean thermal pools on the property adjoining ours. Open daily! Horseback riding in the beautiful area is offered by a few local enterprises. And hot air ballooning.
For culture, San Miguel offers theater, concerts, art galleries, art classes, cooking classes, shopping, festivals throughout the year and superb dining.
And, of course, the beauty of a Spanish colonial town, cobblestone streets and lots of local culture and festivities.
