What you will love about this home
Our house is built in 1926 and it is located at a typical old village road with almost all detached houses. We bought this house in 2007 and greatly expanded it in 2012. We used the extra space for our fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, a lounge area and patio doors to the garden. And we have spent lots of summer nights at the porch already; so glad with that one! Our 15x15m backyard is facing south, so it's sunny all day.
One of the characteristics of this house is the sloping roof that starts on the first floor. This is causing an intimate atmosphere upstairs. Upstairs you'll find the four bedrooms and a toilet with washbasin (cold water only). Our bathroom downstairs is fully equipped for two people: double washbasin and double shower cabins (we don't have a bath). The old living room, the refurbished bathroom and the expanded part of our house have underfloor heating.
Wifi is available throughout the house and most of the garden. And of course we have a television, DVD, etc. and all kinds of children's toys and board games for all ages.
What you will love in the neighborhood
Ugchelen is a district of Apeldoorn but always had the feel of a small village. It is surrounded by an overwhelming amount of nature (woods, heaths) and it has all delights of the city of Apeldoorn and the rest of The Netherlands. In and nearby Ugchelen there's several cycling, walking and horse riding.
Ugchelen has all the basics you'll need (bakery, supermarket, deli counters) and the shopping centre of Apeldoorn is nearby for all extra's. We can recommend the local pancake restaurant and don't forget to visit our famous icecream maker. For a good cup of coffee or a high tea you can stay in Ugchelen as well.
The city of Apeldoorn offers you, among others, a family theme park, the ape zoo, the former royal palace and its beautiful gardens or visit / travel with an old steam railway. And although Apeldoorn has several swimming pools, the most beautiful one is a outdoor pool (open between May and September). Throughout the year there are various events in and around Apeldoorn. And of course you can visit the cinema, a bar, one of the many restaurants, a bowling centre etc. etc. as well.
Nearby Apeldoorn you can visit mediaeval cities like Deventer (20 minutes) and Zutphen (30 minutes) or the National Park Hoge Veluwe, with the Kröller Muller museum (20 minutes), the Open Air Museum in Arnhem (30 minutes) and many other locations.
Ugchelen is located near highway A1, so it's a good base to visit for instance cities like Amsterdam (1 hour), Berlin (5 hours), Antwerpen (2 hours), Brussel (2,5 hours), Paris (5 hours). If you don't want to go by car, Apeldoorn has a railway station with good connection to Amsterdam and Utrecht.
So, Ugchelen is definitely a good base for a wonderful holiday and we look forward to let you experience that.
