Saint-Petersburg is often referred to as Venice of the North, which - as I see it - is true. Our city is over 300 years old and is the second largest city in Russia after Moscow. It's European and has a vast number of great views, many historical places, yet it's not as modern and busy as Moscow is. Ou city is rather cheap, you will spent little on food if comparing, for example, to Paris or London. Generally our city is very worth visiting, taking into consideration our great museums and Mariinsky Theatre, along with intense night life and general beauty.
