Only twelve minutes by bus or car to the city of Östersund. Only about 10 buses a day though. Rather small town but very ``happening``, since it is the main town in the inland of northern Sweden. A great view over the lake and mountains from town. Lots of cultural activities of all kinds. A winter festival and a summer music festival with lots of big artists (storsjöyran). Great interactive museum with historical environments/houses open with actors summertime (Jamtli). Area with a lot of local food producion, gastronomical capital of 2011. Moosegarden (meet an elk/moose..). Good shopping. All kinds of nature around to experience. Woods, mountains with clean water in the streams that you can drink. Bring you own tent or ski/hike between lodges. Several great downhill areas for skiing or biking. Canoeing on the lake (Swedens fifth largest, believed to host a monster-Storsjöodjuret...!)
