Description

Tracey has described his/her home in English.

What you will love about this home

Beautiful old cottage (1840), with lots of interesting features, including inglenook, wood stove, exposed beams, and stone walls (you’ll have to discover the others), but also most modern comforts;
modern extension which is sympathetic to cottage and allows a lot of light into the house from the French windows. Incredible views from the back of the house over the Tarren Mountains and estuary,
large balcony for enjoying these. Fantastic walks straight from the house. Beaches and National Nature Reserves within 15 mins drive. Natural estuary and RSPB Reserave within walking distance.
Nearest towns 6 miles- Machynlleth (farming and alternative lifestyle communities) ; 12 miles - Aberystwyth (multicultural, coastal University town with largest Welsh Arts Centre). Lots to do in the
area and lots of events. Chickens at the bottom of the garden, stream for paddling down the road etc etc.

What you will love in the neighborhood

The views of mountains and estuary (and sea, from hill above village). The nature reserves: Ynys Hir (RSPB); the Osprey reserve (Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust); Cors Fochno (Natural Resources Wales); Ynyslas (Natural Resources Wales). The beaches (Ynyslas, Borth, Aberdovey). Mountain biking and hill walking opportunities everywhere! Interesting towns within 6 miles (Machynlleth) and 12 miles (Aberystwyth). Machynlleth has a street market every Wednesday, a Museum of Modern Art, independent shops including many antiques shops, and a leisure centre with swimming pool, fitness classes etc. Aberystwyth is a popular University town on the sea front with promenade, pier, vernicular train to viewpoint and camera obscura, 2 beaches, children's pool on promenade, harbour, castle, parks, independant shops, museum, National Library with exhibitions, large Arts Centre with theatre, cinema, exhibitions etc. The All Wales Coastal Path runs through Aberystwyth, and above our village! There are cycle trails in and near Aberystwyth, and from Dolgellau. Snowdonia national Park is 20 minutes away with Cadair Idris mountain to climb! Plenty of steam train trips in the area too. Opportunities to learn watersports at Borth, a popular surfing spot!
