Our house is about 4-5 miles from Liverpool City Centre. West Derby is a suburb of Liverpool and from there, you have several links to the centre of town, which takes about 30 minutes by train or
bus. Liverpool was the Capital of Culture in 2008 and now attracts millions of tourists each year from all over the World. The restaurant scene across Liverpool has boomed in recent years with an
impressive collection of renowned eateries achieving record entries in the Good Food Guide. Liverpool shopping is world class, which is only fitting for a city that can shop till it drops. Shoppers
are spoilt for choice between gleaming new city-centre shopping centres to boutique arcades, bohemian streets and farmers markets. Liverpool has a world class cultural offer, with more museums and
galleries anywhere outside of London. The city is also a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and known worldwide as the birthplace The Beatles. There’s a large choice of tours available, from
introductory city tours for the first-time visitor to special interest itineraries, not to mention a great selection of Beatles tours. There’s loads to do for families too, plus stunning coast and
countryside to explore for those wanting to escape the bright lights of the city. Liverpool is sports mad. It’s got Premier Division football, world-class golf, top horse-racing and even rugby. The
city is, of course, home to two of the Premiership’s biggest football teams, Liverpool Football Club at Anfield and Everton Football Club at Goodison Park. The two divide the city and are the cause
of much heated debate in its pubs. Wirral Peninsula’s own Tranmere Rovers have just as passionate a following too, at Prenton Park in Birkenhead. What’s more, Liverpool John Lennon Airport is only 20
minutes away by taxi. There are daily flights to and from Paris, which will enable a direct ’swop’ with Liverpool and Paris.
