What your guests will love about your home
We offer a cozy guest apartment that is attached to our family home. You will have one bedroom with a queen size bed for two, private living room, kitchen and bath. There is a washing machine and a dryer. We are on a lake, provide two kayaks, fishing gear and a lakeside fire pit with comfortable seating to watch the sunset as bass hit the lake surface and ducks paddle past you. The property is over an acre with an extensive lawn, tropical flowers, producing fruit trees, a few egg producing hens (no roosters) and hammocks in the garden. Your bedroom has a flat screen TV and linens are provided. The attached private bath has well stocked towels, a shower and tub. The living room has leather furniture and a flatscreen smart TV, cable and wifi. A third guest may sleep on the leather couch or a put up bed. The modern kitchen has granite counter tops and breakfast bar, full sized refrigerator and stove, microwave, coffee pot, food and beverage supplies to get you started on your relaxing visit.
I am a retired teacher and I travel often with friends. I will be happy to take you or give you directions to the fresh water springs, rivers and seashores that I love and often visit in our area. In our large garden I grow organic bananas, mangos, and carambola fruit trees. I trade the fruit for seafood and organic produce at the local co-op. You will find this food in your guest refrigerator for your use during your visit. My husband Greg is retired and does not like to travel. He will be available and happy to assist you. We have both enjoyed meeting our guests from Guest to Guest and enjoy the experience of welcoming them to the guest apartment attached to our home.
What your guests will love about your neighborhood
In our town of Lutz you will find small local restaurants, grocery stores and quaint shops including my own garden shop and tea room. Lutz, our Florida town, is adjacent to Tampa, 30 minutes from the Tampa International Airport (TIA), Busch Gardens and the Museum of Science and Industry with interactive exhibits and an IMAX theater. In Tampa you'll find the Florida Aquarium, Riverwalk, Straus Theater, Lowry Park Zoo,, and the annual Gasparilla pirate invasion. Within a one hour drive are Clearwater Beach, Honeymoon Island, Caldesi Island, Tarpon Springs, and Homosassa Springs (manatees). The islands can be traveled to by car. They have long stretches of lovely white sand and blue water good for hiking, swimming, wind surfing, and sailing. The rivers are fed by natural springs, the water is so clear you can see the fish and manatees below. You can rent a kayak, canoe or pontoon boat for a day on the river. You can swim with the manatees when they come into the rivers from the ocean from November through March. I and my son have been swimming with the manatees since he was five years old. Manatees are very gentle creatures!
On our street, the houses are widely separated around a lake used for fishing and water skiing. Our friendly neighbors are bicycling, jogging and walking their dogs. There is a large grocery store one half mile from the house. You'll find a variety of locally owned restaurants and shops nearby. The Tampa Bay Area is a tourist destination offering quaint towns, lovely beaches, fresh water springs and rivers.
