The pool in this luxury retreat is already warming up and delightful to swim in. Eggfruit are plentiful on the tree now, mangos on our massive tree will be ripe in May/June as will the lychee tree which is is abundant with fruit. All of our 5 chickens are laying eggs and the neighbor who cares for them when we are gone will probably share with you.
You can relax and feel nurtured in this spacious custom home with slate floors, wood interior, ceiling fans and cathedral ceilings throughout. This acre property is lush, private, fenced and gated. The kitchen is well stocked and the garden has herbs and greens you are welcome to use. All 3 bedrooms have ceiling fans and en suite bathrooms. There are 3 covered lanais (porches), a detached building that has the second and third bedroom, and a gazebo near the pool. The 4th bedroom is used as an office and there is a massage table the living room area. Any time of day or night you are welcome to ease into the hot tub, dip in the pool, sweat in the sauna. The orchard in the front yard has an abundance of organic oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, lemons, passion fruit and avocados, in season October through April.
This side of the island has some of the cleanest and freshest air on the island and the planet, and this property has some of the most delicious and vibrant water available at home on the island. There are several structuring units installed in addition to particulate filters and a carbon/ceramic counter filter in the kitchen. So you are invited to breath deep and drink often!
This property welcomes gays and lesbians, is private enough to delight those who prefer living clothes free as nudists/naturists. And of course 'foodies' will be delighted with our kitchen and all the organic fruits and veggies growing on the property.
What your guests will love about your neighborhood
A car is necessary as our location is rural, while centrally located, and driving is required to shop and see all the sights. The Big Island is easily experienced as a self-guided tour and most everything on the east side of the island is between 10 to 40 minutes away from this location.
For shopping and dining, Pahoa is 15 minutes, Hilo 20 minutes. A 2 hour drive on Saddle road gets you across the island.
Enjoy what is close by on the East Side of the Island (includes time it takes to get to the location)
*Visit waterfalls, walk through amazing Tropical Botanical gardens (30-40 minutes).
*Visit a continuously active volcano (since 1984) in Volcano National Park (40-50 minutes).
*Hike up Green Mountain (30 minutes)
*Snorkel in tide pools or swim at a black sand beach (30 minutes to each)
*Swim or surf at Poihiki (30 minutes)
*Sun or swim at Kehena, a clothing optional black sand beach (30 minutes)
*Relax or swim at the the Warm Pond where ocean waters are warmed by water from the hot lava underneath. (30 minutes)
*Hike ancient trails along ocean cliffs with hidden tide pools and deserted beaches and watch for whales. (varies)
*Enjoy lunch or supper indoors or open air at restaurants in Pahoa town. You will find excellent locally caught fish,
homemade Italian, Mexican, Thai and Filipino foods here along with an open air coffee shop. (15 minutes)
*Shop at Island Naturals Market for natural and organic food, in Pahoa or in Hilo.
*Dine on locally caught fish or sushi while watching the sunset over Hilo Bay at the Hilo Bay Café.
*Get a poke bowl for lunch or buy fish to cook at Suisan (20 minutes)
*Enjoy local Farmer's Markets: try local fruits: passion fruit, star fruit, lychee, mango, coconut, papaya or get locally grown
sprouts and vegetables. Feast on a homemade crepes, exotic smoothies, Hawaiian, Thai and Filipino breakfast and lunch foods, get a coffee or kombucha, find a unique hand crafted piece by a Big Island artist, discover clothing, jewelry, lotions, spice blends, gifts of all kinds, enjoy a soothing massage, and so much more--all while you enjoy live music. * We are a no smoking and no pets property
* Regarding children: the pool is large and deep, the pool and hot tub are not fenced in, the second and third bedrooms are in a separate detached building.
* There are service people who care for the yard and pool that are regularly scheduled.
* 5 chickens have private space behind the fence near the pool, and are cared for by the neighbor who has private access.

phones that they will be able to call you on and which you can use for calls to the US and Canada..
