My girlfriend and I adore our lovely, quiet one-bedroom apartment with fireplace and tall ceilings in the heart of the East Village. You will too.
It's near everything. Five minutes to Union Square and all trains for an easy trip uptown (Central Park), downtown (Battery Park) or to Brooklyn and other boroughs. The immediate neighborhood is replete with more restaurants, bars, music venues, museums, movie theaters, boutiques, bookstores and every other imaginable place of interest than one could explore in a lifetime. We're on the same block as the beautiful historic landmark St. Mark's Church, a pleasant 10-minute stroll to Tompkins Square Park, 15 minute saunter to Greenwich Village and Soho, 20 minute walk to Chinatown, Little Italy, Chelsea, and the Meatpacking District. From our incredibly convenient central location, one can get to most of downtown and midtown Manhattan in a 15-minute taxi ride.
The bedroom is a quiet, private room with a window, queen-size bed, entertainment center, shelving, and closet space.
The living room is an open space with tall ceilings, a working fireplace, exposed brick, a couch & coffee table, a reading nook, a large farmhouse table/desk, stow-away chairs, abundant books, and two large north-facing windows.
Kitchen has new fridge, good oven and gas range, espresso maker, juicer, toaster oven, and is well-stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, utensils, etc.
Sleeping loft: above the kitchen and adjacent bathroom is a unique, cozy sleeping loft with curtains; big enough that we've received no complaints of claustrophobia: 7' wide x 8' deep and about 3 1/2 feet high. Full-size futon mattress comfortably sleeps two (as long as they're friendly). An easy-to-use & store ladder provides access. Kids especially enjoy it, though I don't recommend it for children under 6 or sleepwalkers.
Also: bathroom with bathtub and shower, entrance foyer with large coat closet. Bonuses: easy access to fire escape and roof, air conditioning, abundant bar-tending tools, plug-and-play sound system, hundreds of good books.
Nearby laundromat is cheap and fast and does a great job, AND they pick up your dirty stuff and deliver your clean laundry for free (I suggest a $5 tip).
I'll supply plenty of clean sheets, towels, dish towels, cloth napkins, and leave you with maps, a convenient guide to lots of local restaurants, bars, clubs, music venues, boutiques, groceries, cinemas, theaters, museums, parks, and more. I'll also leave careful instructions for using the fireplace, the TV & DVD, the wifi, etc.
You'll love our spot— it's a wonderfully charming, surprisingly spacious refuge, smack-dab in the middle of one of the most happening places on Earth.
