What your guests will love about your home
For us, our home is akin to living in the presidential suite in a luxury hotel.
We are on the penthouse floor of one of New York's premier condominiums. The Apthorp is a landmarked, white glove residence in the heart of Manhattan's Upper West Side. We are one of the few building in New York that boasts a private courtyard, replete with 24-hour attendants, a manicured garden, marble furnishings, and two fountains.
Our Penthouse overlooks the courtyard. Since we are on the top floor of the building, and since we overlook the courtyard, our home is very quiet - even with the windows open, you do not hear anything from bustling City outside. Also, we have unobstructed views of the sky - another rarity in New York City.
The apartment is well appointed. The foyer leads into an open layout "great room". It encompasses a living-room area with a modern, sectional sofa (pull-out bed), easy chair with ottoman, and surround-sound stereo/home theater with 8-foot, 1080p projection television (cable, DVD, AppleTV, and Chromecast). The dining area seats 6 comfortably. An alcove desk is the perfect work space (WiFi provided). And, the kitchen area is composed of Bosch stainless steel appliances (gas range/oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer) and granite counter tops.
The master bedroom has a king-size sleigh bed (mattress was rated as "the best" by furniture magazines), with side tables on either side. A cowhide dresser and matching stool are complemented by mirrored closets, and a 40" 1080p LCD television (cable). Matching blackout shades help ensure a great night's sleep! The en-suite marble bathroom has a walk-in/stall shower, and modern plumbing (even though the building was built in 1906).
A rooftop terrace is the perfect place for enjoying morning coffee, a suntan, or pre-dinner wine and cheese. (Furniture includes dining table, lounges, chairs, and benches.)
Our neighbors include Hollywood elites, business executives, and other lovely people.
What your guests will love about your neighborhood
We are steps to Lincoln Center, some of the City's best restaurants (including Michelin-starred options), museums, Central Park and Riverside Park (we are one block from Manhattan's version of a boardwalk - a pedestrian/bicycle path along the Hudson Riverside that stretches from the George Washington Bridge down to Battery Park). And, it's very easy to access the rest of the City beyond the Upper West Side. (For example, we walk to work in Times Square.)
The #1 subway stop is immediately outside of our building, as is the stop for the crosstown bus. Moreover, it's very easy to catch a taxi (the 24-hour doormen will even hail one for you). And, Citi-bikes (www.citibikenyc.com) are also available right outside of our building on West 78th Street.
