Home ExchangeFrank and Nancy Grimaldi - Tel. 843-838-0822The Home - Our home is located in the seaside community of Beaufort, South Carolina on the southeastern coast of the USA. (Please see:
http://www.dataw.org/) The house is actually located on Dataw Island and is in a gated and private golfing and boating community with its own marina. From the rear of the home, the view is a tidal
marsh with seawater at high tide and has an absolutely gorgeous view as it overlooks an expansive 6 miles (10 km) of marsh and saltwater rivers with few manmade structures to be seen. The evening
sunsets are spectacular, especially in the fall and winter. The home was built in 2000 and is approx. 2200 sq. ft. (204 sq. meters) with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a great room, study (with pullout
couch) in the main house and also has a screened porch. The kitchen is upscale with all of the typically American appliances. The house has a satellite TV, clothes washer and dryer and is centrally
heated and air-conditioned. As a bonus, there is a separate guest suite with a third bedroom and bathroom that is also heated and air-conditioned. It’s located over the garage and has a separate
entrance. The Location - Beaufort is located approx. 1 hour from the historic towns of Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. It is 45 minutes from the resorts of Hilton Head, SC and about 4 hours from
Myrtle Beach, SC and the northern cities in Florida. (For more information please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaufort,_South_Carolina & http://www.beaufortonline.com/ as well and other web
sites. The following link describes the Dataw Island community where our home is located. http://www.visualtour.com/show.asp?t=2253846 Beaufort is an historic town with its beginnings in the late
1600s. Its origins were influenced by the French and Spanish settlers. In the pre-civil war era, there were many plantations that grew rice, indigo and cotton that farmed with Negro slave labor.
Beaufort played a significant role in the American Civil War. There are many restored antebellum homes, historical sites and museums that will aquaint and educate the visitor with Beaufort’s
history.Beaufort is a coastal community surrounded by numerous saltwater rivers, creeks and marshes that are visible from the roads throughout the area. Boating is one of the major activities to be
enjoyed, including sailing, power boating, kayaking and canoeing. Hiking trails and marine habitat tours are available. An ocean beach is within 20 minutes of our home. Although the golf courses on
Dataw Island are restricted to members, there are many professional golf courses open to visitors in the Beaufort area and on Hilton Head.Beaufort is not a resort town like the upscale resorts on
Hilton Head, or the children oriented community of Myrtle Beach. Beaufort is a historic town that caters to adult visitors and offers wonderful restaurants, boutique shopping, galleries and museums
and pleasant surroundings with many activities to be enjoyed.
