  • What is it about?

    We have developed this insurance in partnership with MAIF, to meet the specific needs of the home exchange. The sole purpose of this insurance is to be signed by the guest, on its own initiative or at the request of his host. The following table presents the general outline of this insurance, the details of which are available in the General Conditions 1, General Conditions 2, General Conditions 3, General Conditions 4, General Conditions 5.

  • How much does it cost?

    Each offer has a price per day, shown in the table above.

    For example: If I’m hosted for 5 days, offer number 1 will cost me: 4€ * 5 days =20€.

  • Insurance Cancellation/Interruption

    This insurance has the advantage of covering many cases of cancellation or interruption of stay for each guest without making any difference, but above all, it also covers, in many cases, if your host is forced to cancel, and you cannot find another equivalent exchange. The maximum amount of guarantees is determined by the length of stay and the option chosen.

    Example 1: I organized an exchange with Anne for 10 days and I subscribed for option 1. Unfortunately, I fell seriously ill three days before leaving. I have to cancel my trip, so in this case the insurance will be reimbursed covering all expenses incurred, for the maximum amount offered, for the maximum amount offered by option 1 for 10 days, 10 days * 50 € = 500 €. This includes, non-refundable train tickets or, for example, the commission GuestToGuest charges on the deposit.

    Example 2: I was invited with my husband and 3 children by Joëlle for 5 days and I subscribed for option 3. Joelle's mother had a heart attack. Joëlle cancels her vacation: her accommodation is no longer available to welcome me. I decide to cancel my trip, and in this case, the insurance will reimburse all expenses incurred at my expense, for the maximum amount offered by option 3 for 5 days, 5 days X 200 € = 1000 €.

    Example 3: I was invited with my husband and my 2 children by my host and I subscribed for option 2. My host cancels his invitation, because his partner falls seriously ill. Despite GuestToGuest customers service's help, I cannot find an equivalent exchange. I decide to leave anyway and to go to a hotel. The insurance will reimburse all expenses incurred by me, for the maximum amount offered by option 2 for 7 days, 5 days X 200 € = 1000 €.

    Example 4: I’m staying with my husband and my 2 children at my host’s house for 8 days and I subscribed for option 3. My host suddenly cancels the stay on the third day, because of the death of his brother. I decide to go to a hotel. . The insurance will take charge of all my expenses and those of my family, for the maximum amount offered by option 3 for 5 days, 5 days X 200 € = 1000 €.

  • Public-liability insurance

    Whichever option you choose, whatever the duration of the stay, the damages caused to my host are covered up to € 5,000,000 by public-liability insurance. The damages caused to his furniture are covered up to 5 000€, with 150€ of allowance. Please note that this insurance does not cover vandalism acts by the guest, such as theft or voluntary damage.

    For example, during your stay, one of my sons broke a lamp valued 250 €. The allowance, which amounts to 150 € will be at my expense (you may decide to deduct it from the deposit) and the remaining € 100 will be covered by the insurance

  • How does it work on the site?

    As a host, you can choose to indicate insurance as mandatory or optional. If you choose "mandatory", your guest is obliged to choose one of the five insurance options, in order to finalize the exchange. In this way, you are sure that your house is covered by this insurance.

    As a guest, if the insurance is mandatory, you must choose one of the five insurance options when you finalize the exchange. If the insurance is optional, you can choose one of five insurance options, or choose not to take out any insurance.

I undertake (promise) to provide all the supporting documents required for the investigation of the case as soon as possible.

    My host says that he will have to cancel the exchange for which I am insured, what should I do?

    I suffered damages, what should I do?

    I contact my guest and ask him to make a statement via e-mail and send it to maif@guesttoguest.com. I inform about the incident, attaching photos showing the damage and any other documents (i.e. invoices) to assess it, specifying the number of the exchange (visible in details of the exchange) ...
